THE STORY
Actually, the girl… Tina Kontogiannopoulos set foot on Serifos in 1998. It was in 2004 when she set foot on a yoga mat and never left. These were the two defining moments in her life and it was them that laid the seed for Blue Yoga Serifos. But little did she know back then… As yoga showed her the way to an apocalyptic inner exploration, Serifos showed her the way to a mind blowing natural adventure. Time passed. Life happened. Τhe seed sprouted. Today, Blue Yoga Serifos is her way of fusing yoga and Serifos in one immersive experience, to be shared with yogis from around the world.
ORIENTATION
Blue Yoga Serifos is situated on the island of Serifos. Serifos belongs to the West Cyclades island complex, lying between Kythnos and Sifnos. It is approximately 70 nautical miles away from Piraeus, with which it is daily connected. It also has easy access to the nearby islands of Kythnos, Sifnos, Milos and Kimolos, making it a favorite spot for island hopping.
Serifos has a coastline of about 80klm, dotted with more than 70 beaches! One of them is the magnificent sandy beach of Blue Yoga Serifos. A beautiful, short walk connects Blue Yoga Serifos to the port where most of the action takes place (shops, cafes, restaurants, etc.). Once in the port there is the choice of taking the local bus to explore the astonishing Chora or the nearby beaches.
HOW TO GET HERE
GETTING TO GREECE
The first part of your journey is to fly into Greece, into the Athens International Airport (ATH). There are direct flights from all major European cities so that you can pick the one that suits you best. From the airport you have to get to Piraeus and take the boat to Serifos.
Travelling to Serifos
Once in Piraeus you have two choices of getting to Serifos; the ferry and the speedboat. If you want to take your time and enjoy the trip, the ferry is the best choice. It takes 4,5-5 hours and costs approximately 31 euros. If your schedule is tight, you can take the speedboat and get to Serifos twice as fast at a cost of approximately 45 euros. At the port of Serifos we will be there to welcome you and pick you up.
You will receive detailed travel information once you make your reservation.
GIVING BACK
At the very heart of yoga lies the notion of being one with self, nature and the cosmos around us.
Here at Blue Yoga Serifos we embrace this notion and apply it in regard to the environment and our local community. We respect nature and try to make our environmental footprint as small as possible. We respect the local culture and society and make an effort to generate income and employment for locals.
Here are some of our practices:
- first of all, we make moderate use of natural resources and encourage our guests to do the same.
- we use grey water recycling, which is the purification and reuse of sewage waste for watering the plants.
- also, we recycle our organic waste by gathering it to feed the animals in the nearby farm.
- in addition, we serve organic, locally grown and produced food whenever available.
- we support our local community’s development by sourcing everything locally.
- and finally, we employ locals for our daily needs such as cooking, cleaning, gardening.
